We regularly receive questions about the use and dosing of fertilisers and additives. Of course, every situation is different. Nevertheless, you can almost always get good results with just a few principles. We have listed them.
Plants need soil, water and light to live and grow. Make sure you know what your plant needs so it doesn't get too little or too much light. The same goes for water. Some plants need more water than others. But never so much that they drown. With pots, always make sure the water can drain away. Plants need soil so that the roots can give strength to the plant. Roots also ensure that nutrients are absorbed from the soil. If there is not enough nutrients in the soil, your plant will not be able to develop properly.
Nitrogen, Calcium and Potassium are the three most important nutrients for your plant. There are also all kinds of micronutrients and fungi. (elaborate further with Johan).
For all fertilisers and additives, it is better to use too little than too much. This is because you can very easily add fertiliser to the soil, but you can hardly get it out. So always start with the amount stated on the packaging. When you notice that your plants are doing well, use enough. More is then not necessary. Too much can even lead to worse results.
Experienced growers know exactly what they need. Want a fertiliser you can always rely on. Then BIO 8-2-2 is the best choice. It is a widely used fertiliser that you can use almost any time.
Some additives are suitable for different phases of your plant. Rootbooster is used during germination and cuttings. Grow products during growth, and Bloom products during flowering and fruiting. Do not use these phase-specific products as general fertiliser.
Also pay attention to which potting soil you use. Different potting soils require different approaches.
Terra and Bio potting soils have fertiliser for the first few weeks. Here you start fertilising when your plants start to grow.
Coco and Hydro have no fertiliser by themselves. So here you start fertilising from the beginning.
Use the handy dispensing cap to precisely measure your fertilisers and additives without any mess.
