Solanum lycopersicum is a fast-growing, annual plant that produces edible tomatoes. This originally South American plant produces fruits of different colours, shapes and sizes, depending on the variety.

Size:
30 to 100 cm for determined growth (bush tomatoes) and 1.5 to 3 metres for indeterminate growth (stem tomatoes).
Harvesting: between July and October.

Care

Light: this plant is a sun lover and needs at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. Grow it in a warm spot to a height of ... centimetres. Then move it to a spacious pot or full soil, in a sunny greenhouse or a sunny spot outside.

Water: For an optimal harvest, it is important that the soil always remains moist. Therefore, water the plant regularly, but avoid both drying out and excess water ('wet feet').

Cuttings & Propagation

A tomato plant is easy to cut and propagate. Cut off side shoots (thorns) of 10 to 15 cm and remove the lower leaves. Place the cutting in a glass of water and let it root for 7 to 10 days. Once the roots have developed, you can plant the cutting in the ground for a new tomato plant. Support the root growth of your cuttings with the Cellmax root booster.
